Yogurt and kefir are similar in taste and texture, however kefir is drinkable...like a thick smoothie, while yogurt is like custard. The main difference between kefir and yogurt is the milk components and other ingredients. The yogurt has slightly higher butterfat and higher milk solids and that, coupled with the addition of pectin, make the yogurt thicker. The kefir has lower butterfat and lower milk solids so it stays in a drinkable consistency. Both are delicious and have excellent amounts of beneficial probiotics!
